Offer Description NOTICE OF THE OPENING OF AN INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR RECRUITMENT OF ONE RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Maria da Conceição Lopes Vieira dos Santos, Full Professor and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, hereby advertises the opening for 10 working days of an international call for recruitment on one Research Assistant with a Master degree, resolutive term uncertain, within the Project PRR-C05-i03-I-000179 – BioFago, financed by Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência (PRR) – IFAP.
1. Main research field: Biology
1.1. Secondary research field: Microbiology.
2. Admission requirements: Application can be submitted by any nationals, foreigners and stateless people who meet the following conditions cumulatively: hold a MSc degree in the above-mentioned scientific area.
If the candidate holds a MSc awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions established in the Decree-Law no. 66/2018 on July 16. All the formalities established in the Decree-Law must be met until the hiring.
Failure to comply with these requirements results in the preliminary rejection of the application.
Preferred requirements:
Proficiency in statistical programs; in-depth knowledge of molecular biology.
3. Functions to be performed:
Participate in the collection (field and/or laboratory) and analysis of isolates of Erwinia spp, and other isolates considered relevant to the project area;
Characterize Erwinia isolates in terms of biological, biochemical and genetic profiles;
Participate in collaboration meetings with other Biofago teams, and in the preparation of reports, deliverables and milestones;
Participate/co-coordinate activities at FCUP to (1) carry out all the daily activities related to laboratory work; and (2) the project's dissemination and dissemination activities (e.g. publication of 1 technical-scientific article in the BioFago area, participation in events with stakeholders, within the scope of the project);
Participate in the preparation and publication of 3 other international scientific publications in the area of the project or an area related to the project, if requested;
Provide quarterly reports on the progress of the work in relation to the work plan of the public notice.
5. The place of work: The functions will be developed at iB2Lab in the Biology Department of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, under the scientific guidance of Professor Doctor Conceição Santos and Doctor Rafael Mendes.
6. Duration of contract: This employment contract is scheduled to start on October 2024 and will be maintained only for the period due to accomplish the tasks of the job description under a full-time regime.
7. Remuneration: €1.861,25 (first position of Full-time Research Assistant category, with remuneration level 3, according to the Regulation No. 487/2020 of the Research, Science and Technology Staff of the University of Porto, published in the 2nd series of Diário da República on May 22, 2020).
8. Methods of selection and definition of their weights/evolution criteria:
The mandatory selection method is the evaluation of the scientific and curricular path.
• The use of selection methods is phased, as follows:
Application, at the first moment, to all the admitted candidates, of the evaluation of the scientific and curricular path;
Application of the second method, interview or presentation session or public demonstration, The three best candidates approved in the previous method.
• Valuation of selection methods:
Each member of the jury evaluates the candidates' scientific and curricular path on a scale from 0 to 100 points, with valuation up to the hundredths, with the classification obtained through the weighting defined in the criteria to be evaluated.
The evaluation of the second selection method is expressed on a scale from 0 to 100 points, with valuation up to the hundredths.
Evaluation criteria:
The evaluation of the scientific and curricular background (ACPS) will be made by each member of the jury, on a scale of 0 to 100 points, valued to the hundredths, for each of the following evaluation criteria:
A. Curriculum vitae (60%): distributed as follows Curriculum vitae based on demonstrated experience in
A.1. in isolating and characterizing bacteria (30%);
A.2. characterization of the plant-bacteria interaction (30%);
The final score of the curricular evaluation and scientific path (ACPS) will be obtained by the expression:
AC = 0.6*A + 0.25*B + 0.15*C
The three best candidates , according to the score in the curriculum criteria (ACPS) will be called for an interview with the selection panel, which can take place via videoconference if the candidate so requests. The interview score (IS) will be expressed on the scale 0 – 100.
9. Results notifications:
The Human Resources Unit of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto will notify candidates of the decisions made throughout the tender procedure. All candidates will be notified of the final decision of the Selection Committee. Notifications are sent by email, under the terms of articles 112(1)(c) and 113(5) of the CPA.
Lists of admitted and excluded candidates, as well as the final ranking lists, will be published and advertised on the webpage of this call at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, and all candidates will be notified by under the terms of the Code of Administrative Procedure.

In case of doubt, the Selection Committee is entitled to request any candidate to present further documentation to support their statements. False statements provided by candidates are punishable by law.
The documents referred to in points a) to d) are mandatory.
Candidates who incorrectly formalize their candidacy are excluded from admission to the competition.
13. Final Decision: Under the terms of article 121 of the Code of Administrative Procedure, after being notified, the candidates have 10 working days to pronounce. Within a maximum period of 90 days from the deadline for the submission of applications, the final decisions of the jury are given.
14.
