Job Description:
As a Fashion Buyer with Design Experience at (YM)COUTURE, you will take charge of sourcing and purchasing the highest quality fabrics, trims, and embellishments that align with our brand's vision. Your design background will be crucial in making informed decisions that enhance the aesthetic and functionality of our couture pieces.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Sourcing & Buying:
Identify, evaluate, and purchase fabrics, trims, and other materials that meet (YM)COUTURE's high standards of quality and design.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring timely delivery of materials.
Conduct market research to discover new and innovative materials that could elevate our collections.
Manage inventory levels to ensure that the production team has the necessary materials to meet deadlines.
Design Collaboration:
Work closely with the design team to understand the material requirements for each collection.
Provide input on material selection based on your design knowledge, ensuring that the chosen materials enhance the overall design.
Assist in translating design concepts into material needs, ensuring that the final product aligns with the original vision.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure all purchased materials meet the brand's quality standards and specifications.
Coordinate with the production team to resolve any material-related issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
Trend & Market Analysis:
Stay updated on industry trends, particularly in textiles and materials, to keep (YM)COUTURE at the forefront of fashion innovation.
Attend trade shows, supplier meetings, and other industry events to source new materials and gather market intelligence.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in fashion buying, with a strong foundation in fashion design.
Extensive knowledge of textiles, trims, and garment construction.
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to balance creative input with practical buying decisions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and experience with inventory management systems.
