We are looking for a Director of Engineering to join our pre-opening team at Andaz Lisbon.Expected to open in Q2 2025, Andaz Lisbon will offer guests an exciting new luxury lifestyle hotel in the Portuguese capital – and it will represent a key milestone in Hyatt's continued brand growth in Southern Europe. Andaz Lisbon is set to become the second Hyatt-branded hotel in Lisbon. Located in the center of Lisbon's bustling Baixa district and situated along the main pedestrian road, Rua Augusta, the hotel will be comprised of five separate buildings, including the former offices of one of the major banks in Portugal, Banco Português de Investimento (BPI). This central building of the hotel will offer 170 guestrooms, with the surrounding four satellite buildings of the hotel offering guests various private suites to choose from. This unique Urban Resort in the city center will allow guests to fully embrace the locale and experience authentic Lisbon.About the roleThe pre-opening Director of Engineering is responsible for the pre-opening coordination with construction and project management teams to oversee and ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Property Operation, Maintenance and Energy Costs and support all operating departments to ensure life safety systems and all services are supplied as required to the hotel, maintaining equipment, the building and grounds in good operational condition, with particular focus on energy conservation and sustainability. You will understand the oversight and daily management of HVAC, MEP, and have superior technical skills. You will be closely connected to improving ways to reduce our carbon footprint and understand how we can take care of our environment.QualificationsIdeally with a degree or master's qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil.Relevant experience in a similar role with pre-opening experience in hotel or commercial building.In-depth knowledge of engineering systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.Understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and compliance standards.Experience with energy management systems and sustainability initiatives.Ability to plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects, including renovations, installations, and upgrades.Expertise in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs to ensure the longevity of hotel assets.Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols, emergency procedures, and regulatory compliance.Strong organizational skills to manage timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.Experience in coordinating with contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.Green Key Certification experience.If this sounds interesting and a little bit like you, go ahead - click and apply!
