The Role The primary focus for this role is to be a key and influential member of our Chapter, which includes DevOps Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering & DevSecOps Engineering. As well as a key member of a Platform Engineering squad responsible for the Continuous Improvement over our cloud and on-premises platforms. We look for opportunities to do things smarter, cheaper, quicker, and ensure everything we do can be re-used across the squads.
Key Responsibilities Create and maintain the pipelines for publishing code to Azure.
Oversee and coach squads in intra-day deployment mechanisms.
As part of the chapter, drive the DevOps principles and culture across London Market squads.
With the aid of the chapter, coach and influence engineers to DevOps maturity.
Oversee and direct the vendor DevOps and Infrastructure resources.
Create and maintain Azure infrastructure across all environments.
Propose and implement time-saving initiatives.
Create and maintain monitoring at all levels (infrastructure, app, data).
Monitor issues and availability and ensure the correct escalation path is followed.
Monitor performance and propose improvements.
Implement auto-scaling of resources to meet the needs of the moment.
Collaborate with all London Market Chapters.
Help to commoditize cloud services where possible.
Identify engineering limits, bottlenecks, and tipping points before they're reached.
Person Specification Mandatory skillset:
Experience of working as an engineer, working on solutions in Azure or hybrid cloud. Preferably with Azure DevOps.
Experience with Terraform and Azure Resource Management Templates.
Experience setting up and working with Azure DevOps pipelines.
Knowledge of Cloud native, microservices, containerized systems, preferably with Kubernetes.
To have a strong desire for continuous improvement and an Agile way of working.
