Tutor Design - Academic Team (Remote Working Available)
We are looking for a talented design tutor to join our growing Academic team. You will be directly responsible for tutoring, mentoring and assessing our BA & MA design students.
You will be a confident communicator, with high levels of empathy, highly engaging and focused on providing students with an outstanding learning experience.
You will liaise with the Course Leader (CL) to coordinate the delivery of teaching programmes, within the areas directed by the CL and/or Academic Board Committee.
You must possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge to be able to effectively work within and contribute to the established teaching programmes.
You must be highly proficient in written and oral communication in both English as the primary working language and in your own native language (English, Spanish or Portuguese).
You must demonstrate an ability to deliver on short deadlines and assigned targets, to work remotely whilst collaborating with other tutors in the Academic Team and with members of other school teams.
Qualifications required for post:
Master degree in a subject area directly related to Design.
A minimum of 3 years' teaching and assessment experience in Higher Education (UK experience highly desirable).
Professional experience in Design in at least one of the following branches: interaction design; visual design; product design.
General IT skills as user and in collaboration tools; advanced domain expertise in design software or methods required in design.
Overall purpose of post:
Responsible for working in association with/supported by other academics to provide selected aspects of the student learning experience, predominantly at the course unit level.
As a Tutor, your main duties will include:
Demonstrate appropriate depth or breadth of specialist knowledge and understanding of the core curriculum in order to deliver selected units.
Support learning using a range of approaches and modes of delivery.
Show evidence of formal peer review indicating good teaching practice; demonstrate evidence of good student feedback.
Demonstrate clear engagement in relation to teaching and learning and a commitment to professional values.
Support others in delivery of assessment within an existing unit.
Prepare innovative materials to support learning and teaching within specific unit.
Enhance and develop new teaching and content materials in response to student and peer feedback/demand.
Perform a tutor role at undergraduate or postgraduate level dealing with straightforward student issues.
Work collegially with your teaching team/ support staff and others within the unit.
Develop effective learning environments and approaches to student support and guidance.
Communicate subject knowledge in a format that is accessible to all students in an achievable context.
Share personal good practice within the teaching team.
Collaborate with others to incorporate relevant research into own practice.
Take a role in developing and implementing projects to enhance the student experience in conjunction with others.

This job is full-time located at our office in Porto - Portugal. If the candidate has remote working conditions, she/he may be authorized by the Deputy Director.
