Job Title: Data Scientist - Demand Forecasting and Inventory Management
Location:Remote based in Portugal with potential on-site presence for onboarding in London/UK.PTC Group is looking for a Data Science specialist to join our partner, a leader in the Telecommunications sector, to help them build cutting-edge applications.The project is a cloud based ELT decision intelligence platform that specialises in taking data from various sources, transforming, cleaning, visualising, and serving it to customers to provide significant business value. The company brings expertise in data warehousing, cleaning, transformation, visualisation, data science, and focuses on building out of the box solutions, one of which is in the area of Demand Forecasting and Inventory Management (Inventory Optimisation).
Required skills / experience:
- Multiple years of experience in building data science models in the areas of demand forecasting and inventory optimisation. Experience in solving demand forecasting and inventory optimisation problems in ecommerce, travel or manufacturing / supply chain businesses (ideally more than one of the above).
-Candidates should be familiar with the different steps of the process (data preparation, data cleaning, model building, model tuning). There is stronger emphasis in this role on the data science modelling and tuning portion.
-Candidates should have worked on multiple client based projects in this area and not just have theoretical experience. In particular, they should have been responsible for producing a delivering an initial output and working with the client on iterations of that output based on their feedback.
-Dealing with client projects that involve a large number of SKUs and suppliers, with multiple interdependencies and constraints.
-Time-series based modelling with a goal of long term forecasting into the future
-Time-series based feature engineering approaches with a goal of long term forecasting into the future
-Combining standard approaches with custom optimisation models tailored to specific business models and KPI requirements. Familiar with standard models and best practice. Knows how to balance using a standard repeatable approach with the need to build something custom.
-Proficiency in programming languages SQL and Python
-Productionising of code to enable efficient modelling of big data
-Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team
Responsibilities:
-Understand business requirements and objectives
-Build data science models (demand forecasting, inventory optimisation) using a mix of standard and custom modelling techniques
- Be able to adapt and improve existing demand forecasting and inventory management (inventory optimisation) models that the company already has
-Continuously adjust data science models to deliver higher accuracy
-Produce documentation on your approach
-Deliver client facing output and iterate on it based on client feedback
