The Role The Lead Data Analyst is a role in the Europe Data Team who is responsible to manage a team of Data Analysts, partnering with business teams to identify their needs and opportunities, delivering data capabilities using the relevant data visualisation tools.
The Lead Data Analyst is the functional owner of the reporting & analytics solutions at Hiscox Europe. The Data Analysts are responsible to analyse data and business requirements from a functional perspective, supporting European business and data teams in the clarification of requirements, identification of improvements and the definition of the evolution path and guidelines for the analytical platform, aligned with the overall Europe Data Strategy Working with different business functions and countries, this role requires someone who should be equally comfortable with functional and data analysis, while dealing directly with a diverse audience.
Main activities for this role should be:
Collaborate with business teams to identify their data needs or new opportunities that might create valuable data products.Facilitate workshops and discussions with the stakeholders across the organization to effectively gather requirements and achieving understanding of data and insight needs.Data translation of Hiscox Europe operational systems data, to allow delivering relevant data capabilities to our business teams.Recommend data visualisation to support informed decision making.Lead the Data Analysts within the Europe Data Team.Ensure training and on boarding of new Data Analysts in the Europe Data Team.Coach team members with different levels of technical and functional expertise.Work alongside the other Data Leads of the Europe Data Team, to support the Head of Data in the planning and delivery and execution of our Data Strategy.Technical skills Bachelor's / Master's degree, ideally in Management / Computer Science / Mathematic / Economics / Statistics (or similar).Solid background in functional data analysis (min. of 5 years), ideally in the insurance sector (optional)Ability to understand business needs and translate them to technical requirements.Knowledge of SQL and analytical/reporting tools, required to perform data analysis (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)Team management skills and previous experience managing data roles.Previous experience in Agile working methodologies.Fluent in English, verbally and written.Personality trades Strong stakeholder engagement with the ability to understand, challenge and agree business requirement and its prioritisation.Ability to exert influence across a range of geographically distributed stakeholdersAbility to work well under pressure and achieve results within the scheduled time-frameAbility to work in a fast-moving environment with rapidly evolving targets; multitasking effectively, (re)prioritize and switch focus with efficiencyStrong leadership, analytical and communication skillsAble to navigate ambiguous situations, identify and solve blockers with minimal guidance, know how to build cross-organizational partnershipWhy Hiscox?
