The Role The Data Product Owner is a role in the Europe Data Team responsible for managing Hiscox Europe Data & Analytics demand, partnering with business teams to identify their needs and opportunities. Supporting the Head of Data on defining and managing the overall D&A roadmap, the Data Product Owner is responsible for managing backlog prioritization, engaging with representatives from different countries/functions, as well as the Data delivery team.
This role leads a team of Data Analysts, who are the functional owners of the reporting & analytics solutions in Hiscox Europe. The Data Business Analysts are responsible for analyzing data and business requirements from a functional perspective, supporting European business and data teams in the clarification of requirements, identification of improvements, and the definition of the evolution path and guidelines for the analytical platform, aligned with the overall Europe Data Strategy.
Working with different business functions and countries, this role requires someone who is equally comfortable with functional and data analysis while dealing directly with a diverse audience.
Main activities for this role include: Manage the entire data products lifecycle, from design to build and rollout.Coordinate the prioritization of the Data & Analytics backlog across Hiscox Europe, supporting the Head of Data on the definition of the D&A roadmap.Collaborate with business teams to identify their D&A needs or new opportunities that might create valuable data products.Monitor the quality and usage of data products, ensuring continuous improvement.Facilitate workshops and discussions with stakeholders across the organization to effectively gather requirements and achieve understanding of data and insight needs.Recommend data visualization to support informed decision-making.Lead the Data Business Analysts within the Europe Data Team.Ensure training and onboarding of new members in the Europe Data Team.Coach team members with different levels of technical and functional expertise.Technical must-haves Bachelor's / Master's degree, ideally in Management / Computer Science / Mathematics / Economics / Statistics (or similar).Solid background in functional analysis and data products management, ideally in the insurance business (min. of 5 years).Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.Knowledge of SQL or analytical/reporting tools required to perform data analysis.Team management skills and experience.Previous experience in Agile working methodologies.Fluent in English, verbally and in writing.Personality traits Strong stakeholder engagement with the ability to understand, challenge, and agree on business requirements and their prioritization.Ability to exert influence across a range of geographically distributed stakeholders.Ability to work well under pressure and achieve results within the scheduled time-frame.Ability to work in a fast-moving environment with rapidly evolving targets; multitasking effectively, (re)prioritizing and switching focus with efficiency.Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.Able to navigate ambiguous situations, identify and solve blockers with minimal guidance, and know how to build cross-organizational partnerships.Nice to haves Experience as a Data Product Owner.Experience in Business Intelligence, Data & Analytics.Experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence and Analytics tools.Experience with Agile/Scrum-based methodologies.Experience in the Financial Services sector.Why Hiscox?
