You will join the Energy Management business unit that includes the supply, trading, and dispatch of oil, biofuels, natural gas, electricity, and environmental products - both from Galp's own capital and third parties.
These operations provide greater value along Galp's integrated business chain, as they seek to proactively seize commercial opportunities, maximise the integrated margin, and navigate the dynamics and volatility of the energy market.
About your future team
You will join the Crude Oil Trading Team, part of the Energy Management Business Unit, working in a multidisciplinary team, with Iberian geographical distribution in Lisbon & Madrid.
How will your day-to-day look like?
Contribute to the process of buying, selling, and trading crude oil in international markets, in spot or fixed-term contracts, in accordance with economic and technical constraints, managing the risk with oil derivatives, to minimise the risk associated with market volatility, and maximising the refinery, commercial, and 3rd party trading margins.
Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, customers, and other trading partners, negotiating contracts and terms as needed.
Track and monitor world market movements, market trends, price movements, and supply-demand dynamics in the crude oil market.
Advise and identify new trading and business opportunities for the company.
Support the team on the expansion of its trading activity to other geographies, exchanges, and products.
Regular communication with Middle and Back-office teams to articulate diverse front office needs.
Ensure all trading activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
What makes you unique?
• Preferably possess a Diploma/Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
• More than 5 years of crude oil trading experience or operations in a trading house.
• Proven track record of success in generating profits through gas trading strategies, demonstrating effective control in financial decision-making and risk management.
• Well-informed of the world product demand and supply, market dynamics, and arbitrage opportunities.
• Commercial acumen, problem-solving and negotiation skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with counterparties and suppliers.
• Well-connected with end-users and counterparties worldwide.
• Trading knowledge: market direction/call, trading strategies, trading fundamentals, global markets, arbitrage, market sentiment events, and the geopolitical environment.
• Good working knowledge of Trading systems, Price and News reporting platforms (Reuters, Bloomberg), and MS Office tools.
