Credit Risk Analyst - Ebury Lisbon Office Work Pattern: 4 days in the office, 1 day from home Your Role Our lending is powered by business insight. The risk team undertakes a thorough rigorous analysis of the SME businesses looking to take our services. This will include an assessment of their markets, financials, products, activities and cash headroom modelling. The person will be expected to prepare a submission to our Credit Committee with results and recommendations, as well as contribute to the development of automated risk modelling and adapt our processes to local markets.
The ideal candidate would complement Ebury's analytical and statistical capabilities with her own country-specific hands-on knowledge of defaults, credit underwriting, and collections. The key is to add qualitative insight to credit decisions including granting lines, monitoring them, and pursuing collections.
Responsibilities: Assess company financials, operations, and trade cycles to understand fundamental business health and inherent credit risk Analyse companies' structure, their directors and activity to understand fraud risk Synthesise and present analysis to senior leadership during the decision-making process Monitor the existing client portfolio and review requests from existing clients Be the first point of contact for the Portuguese market Provide support for credit analysis for other countries About the Candidate: Quantitative bachelor's and/or master's degree – Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or similar (essential) Strong knowledge of the Portuguese market and its specifics Fluent in Portuguese (essential) and English (essential). Further languages spoken will be highly valued, Especially French Autonomous and comfortable interacting with other departments Analytical mind and strong problem-solving skills Experience in understanding how businesses work and perform Full understanding of balance sheet, P&L and cash flow Knowledge of FX and lending products Ability to read Portuguese management accounts (Balancetes) Clear, structured, and concise communication style with the ability to explain complex concepts in a coherent way Willing to work in a highly demanding, result-oriented, and truly global team environment Working knowledge of Excel essential (VBA/Macros desirable)
