We are seeking a Country Manager to lead our client's international optical chain in Portugal.This professional will be responsible for managing owned stores and branches, business expansion, marketing strategies, and human resources management. A deep understanding of the optical market in Portugal, experience managing suppliers, and a strong results-oriented and franchise service focus are essential.
Responsibilities:
Store and Branch Management:
Oversee and manage the daily operations of owned stores and branches.
Ensure compliance with brand quality standards and customer service excellence.
Implement and monitor operational processes to improve efficiency and profitability.
Business Expansion:
Identify growth and expansion opportunities in the Portuguese market.
Plan and execute strategies for opening new stores.
Analyze the market and competitors to position the brand effectively.
Marketing:
Develop and implement local marketing strategies to increase visibility and attract customers.
Collaborate with the corporate marketing team to adapt global campaigns to the local market.
Manage the marketing budget and evaluate the return on investment (ROI).
Human Resources:
Lead and develop the headquarters, store, and branch teams, fostering a positive and motivating work environment.
Implement training and development programs to enhance the skills of both in-house staff and franchisees.
Oversee recruitment, hiring, and performance evaluation processes.
Drive employee engagement through ongoing training and support for store managers and franchisees.
Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure a consistent supply of quality products.
Negotiate contracts and supply agreements that benefit the company.
Monitor supplier performance and address any issues promptly.
Results Orientation:
Set and monitor targets for sales and EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization).
Analyze and report financial and operational performance to the team.
Implement corrective actions to meet or exceed established targets.
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in the optical industry in Portugal.
Deep knowledge of the Portuguese optical market and its trends.
Proven experience in managing stores, suppliers, and teams.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
Service-oriented approach to supporting franchisees.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Results-driven with strong analytical skills for informed decision-making.
Availability to travel within Portugal.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Optics, or a related field.
Additional education in business management or marketing will be valued.
