As a global leader in protection solutions, we design and develop a wide range of products including gloves, clothing, and other protective gear, to keep workers safe and productive in industrial, medical, and consumer applications.Discover more about our company, our team, and our values by visiting us at https://www.ansell.com.Ansell is looking for a Chemist to join our team in Vila Nova de Poiares, Portugal.What benefits and opportunities does Ansell offer?Competitive compensationAn inclusive and collaborative environment that values diversity and fosters an international cultureAnsell University programs to develop professional and interpersonal skillsOpportunities to advance and grow within the companyMeal allowanceLife insurancePerformance-based annual incentivesPaid time off (vacations, medical appointments and all covered by Portuguese law)What your role will be?Collaborating with our cross-functional teams, and reporting to the Manager, GPMO R&D you will have the opportunity to:Be responsible for development of new analytical methods for GC-MS and LC-MS for chemical mixtures & other complex testing in line with globally recognized ISO/EN/ASTM standards and testing samples according to those methods.Plan, schedule and monitor compliance of all standardized analytical test methods within the laboratory.Proactively identify improvement actions, risks and opportunities in the laboratory and complete associated documentation.To initiate and investigate any corrective actions and implement associated changes, including organizing repairs and revising established SOPs with new learnings.To lead in identification and carrying out appropriate materials analysis to support ongoing projects and investigations as applicable, utilizing understanding of polymer and nonwoven materials to select applicable methods for investigation and report results to global stakeholders.To train and evaluate new staff and complete internal technical and QMS audits to ensure ISO/IEC 17025 compliance and monitor competencies.To support in new method development, establishing accreditation scope and any future extension to scope as the role progresses.What will you bring to Ansell?Postgraduate Chemistry degree, or other related disciplineGood knowledge of organic and physical chemistry and material scienceAt least 2 years' experience in a lab utilizing GLP and a laboratory management quality system (ISO/IEC 17025:17 preferred)Knowledge/ experience in a wide range of analytical techniques, including mass spectrometry and separation chromatography methods (GC-MS, LC-MS and/or HPLC)Practical experience using analytical equipment, specifically LC-MS, GC-MS or/and HPLC.Ability to follow WI and SOPs, and write and establish new methods compliant with accreditation standardsExperience designing analytical workflows to solve commercial needsEHS management, Risk AssessmentsAttention to detail in accurately processing and reporting data work collaboratively with global multi-disciplinary teamsKnowledge of operating systems and an up-to-date knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel and WordGood written and oral communication skillsExcellent time management and organizationAnalytical method development and test method validation experienceProven ability to adapt to given priorities to work on multiple projects simultaneouslyPrevious laboratory and research experience investigating polymers and toxicologyISO 17025 LMS & accreditation requirements and processProject management experience preferredEnglish language fluencyAbility to lead a small team will be advantageousThis role requires ability to travel upon request (15% based on the job training)Join us to lead the world to a safer future, apply today!Please submit your resume in English.Equal Opportunity EmployerAnsell commits to securing an equal opportunity recruitment and selection process.
