Applied R&D (AR) consists of target-oriented research either with the goal of solving a particular problem / answering a specific question or for multi-discipline design, development, and implementation of hardware, software, and systems including maintenance support. Supplies techno-economic consulting to clients. AR work is characterised by its detailed and complex nature in order to systematically combine existing knowledge and practices to further developing and incrementally improving products, operational processes, and customer-specific feature development.
Subfamily Description
Software (SWA) comprises the definition, specification, and allocation of requirements from different sources utilising knowledge of systems engineering processes (specification & architecture). Contains processing of use case and feature requirements into conceptual models, operational scenarios, technical requirements, and functional description. Covers specification, design, implementation, and unit testing of Software (e.g. device drivers, microcode, hardware-related software & firmware) according to the requirements and architecture defined in the systems engineering process. Covers establishment and maintenance of Software Configuration Management (SCM) practices into software development projects, continuously building and integrating infrastructure tools and systems.
How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn
Independently works within broad guidelines and uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues (e.g., plans, tests, and assures end-to-end integration of operations automation; customises automation based on rules and scripts for advanced specific solutions and complex customer configurations).
Works with substantial discretion and uses specialist knowledge, analytical skills, judgment and broad conceptual and practical experience to solve complex problems and to contribute to MS operations automation innovative solutions and process improvements.
Makes recommendations for professional direction of team.
May lead medium-sized projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.
Makes recommendations based on specific customer operations automation on enhancements to standard MS service operations automation and/or for application to specific types of customer configuration.
Provides informal guidance and support to experienced Managed Services Development Operations (MS DevOps) team members with regard to advanced techniques and procedures to follow and approaches required to perform the job effectively.
Key Skills And Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
Proven experience as a Platform Engineer or similar role in a senior capacity.
Strong proficiency in configuring and managing both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure (RedHat OCP, AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.).
Must have Kubernetes (CKA) certification and one cloud platform certification (AWS, OCP, Azure, etc.).
Good knowledge on hardware and storage (HPE/Dell/EMC).
Experience in HW and/or storage migration required.
Proficiency with IP routers, switches, and firewalls (Nokia, HPE, Dell, Cisco) is required.
Expertise/experience on MariaDB & Postgres databases.
Expertise in infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
Deep understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration.
Applications Onboarding experience with VNF and CNF products deployment and integration.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.).
Knowledge of different ingress controllers (NGINX Ingress Controller, Traefik, etc.) and load balancing solutions (MetalLB, AWS ELB, Azure Load Balancer, etc.).
Hands-on experience with scripting languages (Perl, Python, Shell, etc.) for automation and task scripting.
Ability to perform upgrades of services and modify deployment files as part of continuous improvement processes.
Solid understanding of networking, security principles, and troubleshooting techniques. Must be familiar with networking concepts & understand the basic terminologies like VLAN, subnetting, routing and knowledge on DCN required.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
