The Centro de Ciências do Mar do Algarve (CCMAR) is opening a recruitment process for one position for a Junior Researcher in Analytical Chemical sciences. This position is open to citizens of any nationality under an unfixed-term employment contract for activities within the research projects:

1. About CCMAR:
CCMAR (https://ccmar.ualg.pt/) is one of the leading marine science research centres in Portugal, rated Excellent in evaluations by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
2. Summary and Functions:
The position is for a junior researcher in Analytical Chemistry to perform the following tasks:
Establish and develop analytical protocols for the nutritional characterization of microalgal biomass
Quantification of high-value compounds in algal biomass
Quantification of inorganic and organic pollutants in microalgal biomass
Perform untargeted metabolomics of algal biomass
Supervision of undergraduate, master, and PhD students
Participate in writing scientific papers and reports
4. Start Date: The contract is expected to start in January 2025.
5. Workplace: Activities will take place at CCMAR (University of Algarve, Faro, Portugal).
6. Working Hours: 35 hours per week.
7. Monthly Salary: Depending on the profile and experience, the gross monthly salary may vary between 2,294.95 Euros and 3,170.28 Euros.

9. Required Profile:
The candidate should have the following technical skills :
Proficiency in Analytical Techniques: Experience with chromatography, mass spectrometry, and spectroscopy.
Ability to conduct untargeted metabolomics experiments.
Method Development: Skill in developing and validating analytical methods.
Sample Preparation: Expertise in preparing and handling samples.
10. Selection Panel:
The selection panel is composed of members from CCMAR.
11. Evaluation and Selection Process:
The evaluation will consist of a curriculum assessment with a final rating between 0-100.
