Offer Description By deliberation, on the 4th October 2024, of the Executive Board of National Laboratory of Energy and Geology (LNEG), an international call is open for the recruitment of one (1) doctorate, under a work contract in public functions at term, for the period of thirty-six months, with the purpose of developing research activities within the scientific area of Geoscience and related areas in the scope of: (i) the R&D project entitled DRYAD – Demonstration and modelling of Nature-based solutions to enhance the resilience of Mediterranean agro-silvo-pastoral ecosystems and landscapes with the Grant Agreement nr. 101156076, funded under EC Horizon Europe framework program; and (ii) the Technical and Technological Assistance to the National Directorate of Water Resources Management of Mozambique, financed by the World Bank, which consists in updating the national hydrogeological map.

Skills/Qualifications:
Candidates can be national, foreigners and stateless holding a PhD degree in Geoscience or related disciplines relevant for the project;
Candidates must have a scientific and professional curriculum which reveals a profile suited to the activities to be developed.
Other general requirements for admission are defined in Article 17º of LTFP.
In case the PhD has been conferred by a foreign institution, the same must comply with the established in the Decree Law n.º 66/2018, of the 16th of August, and related legislation, and any formalities there established need to be completed until the contract date signature.
Recognition of foreign degrees will only be required of candidates selected for the conclusion of the employment contract. Failure by the candidate to present this recognition within the time limit set for signing the contract will result in the candidate being awarded 2nd place and so on.
Specific Requirements:
Experience in hydrogeological modeling, particularly with MODFLOW version 6;
Experience in programming languages, particularly Python;
Experience in using parametric optimization algorithms, particularly PEST and PEST++;
Experience in remote sensing applied to the water cycle;
Experience in the acquisition and processing of hydrogeophysical data (geoelectric and electromagnetic, time and frequency domains);
Experience in installing and managing automated monitoring networks for meteorological, hydrological, and hydrogeological data;
Knowledge of LoRaWAN technology applied to monitoring networks;
Proficiency in English is mandatory, proficiency or knowledge of Portuguese is preferred.
Additional Information The remuneration is set at the Level 33 of the Single Remuneration Table, approved by Portaria n.º 1553-C/2008, of the 31st of December, which corresponds to the value of 2,294.95 Euro.
Eligibility Criteria Suitability and merit of the candidate's academic curriculum taking into account the area of competition as well as the specific requirements mentioned;
Relevant prior experience (scientific publications and participation in projects applying the preferred requirements mentioned);
Interview (candidates whose total score in criteria A+B is equal to or greater than 7 points will be selected for the interview).
Selection Process The final ranking system for candidates is expressed by the following formula:
Total: 0,40×A + 0,50×B + 0,10×C, in which:
A is the score between 0 and 5 obtained in point 10a;
B is the score between 0 and 5 obtained at point 10b;
C is the score between 0 and 5 obtained at point 10c.
The jury shall take its decision by roll-call vote on the basis of the selection criteria adopted and announced, no abstentions being permitted.
Once the selection criteria have been applied, the selection board draws up a ranked list of successful candidates. The final decision of the selection board is approved by the head of the institution who is also responsible for deciding on recruitment.
