Offer Description An international call is open for the recruitment of one (1) doctorate, under a work contract in public functions at term, for the period of thirty-six months, with the purpose of developing research activities within the scientific area of Geoscience. This role is in the scope of the Technical and Technological Assistance to the National Directorate of Water Resources Management of Mozambique, financed by the World Bank, which consists in updating the national hydrogeological map.

Skills/Qualifications:
Candidates can be national, foreigners, and stateless holding a PhD degree in Geoscience or related disciplines relevant for the project.
Candidates must have a scientific and professional curriculum which reveals a profile suited to the activities to be developed.
Other general requirements for admission are defined in Article 17º of LTFP.
If the PhD has been conferred by a foreign institution, the established requirements in the Decree Law n.º 66/2018 must be completed by the contract date signature.
Specific Requirements:
Experience in acquiring and processing hydrogeological and hydrogeophysical data;
Experience in borehole drilling and construction;
Experience in GIS and spatial databases;
Experience in managing automated monitoring networks for meteorological, hydrological, and hydrogeological data;
Ability to provide training in the thematic area of the project and to transfer knowledge;
Proficiency in Portuguese is mandatory; proficiency or knowledge of English is preferred.
Additional Information The remuneration is set at Level 33 of the Single Remuneration Table, corresponding to 2,294.95 Euro.
Eligibility Criteria: Suitability and merit of the candidate's academic curriculum;
Relevant prior experience (scientific publications and participation in projects);
Interview (candidates with a total score of 7 points or more will be selected).
Selection Process: Final Ranking System: Total: 0.40×A + 0.50×B + 0.10×C, where:
A is the score from point 10a;
B is the score from point 10b;
C is the score from point 10c.
Functions to be performed: This project includes a strong field component with frequent trips (2 to 3 months) in Mozambique. Main tasks include:
Hydrogeological and hydrogeophysical data acquisition;
Supervision of exploratory boreholes and related geophysical logging;
Training of Mozambican partners.
Main office-based tasks include:
Processing hydrogeological data to update mapping;
Participating in database development and data entry;
Data processing in GIS environments;
Preparing reports and explanatory notes;
Collaborating on articles for publication.
