Job Opportunity - Call For a Postdoctoral Research FellowshipThe Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine (GIMM) opens a call for 1 (one) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship under the project "Evolutionary Rewiring Genome Maintenance" with the funding support from EMBO – European Molecular Biology Organization. Scientific Area(s): Evolutionary Cell Biology
Fellowship recipients / Admission requirements: Any National, foreign and stateless candidate(s).
Applicants must hold the following requirements: PhD in life sciences (obtained less than 3 years ago);Ability to work effectively in a team and independently under general supervision;Excellent communication and writing skills;Preferred Criteria: Experience with Evolutionary Biology;Familiarity with Genomics;Computational skills;Experience in Genetics, Molecular and Cellular Biology;Familiarity with the model organism (S. cerevisiae), or other microorganisms; The international experience of the candidates, although not a determining criterion for selection, will be valued.Work Plan and Objectives: The postdoctoral researcher will lead an independent project under the supervision and guidance of the Principal Investigator. The project will aim to understand basic principles governing genome maintenance over evolutionary timescales. It will involve molecular, cellular, and evolutionary techniques with S. cerevisiae, as well as computational and genomic analyses. The postdoctoral will also give and receive help from other members of the lab, and will be expected to actively participate in the lab and institutional intellectual activities.
