Champalimaud Foundation (Fundação D. Anna de Sommer Champalimaud e Dr. Carlos Montez Champalimaud), a private, non-profit research institution in Lisbon, Portugal, is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow to join Ana Luísa Correia's group at the Champalimaud Research Programme.
The selected candidate will spearhead a research project within a broader research program, whose goal is to understand how tissue immunity shapes metastatic progression. The project is expected to leverage single-cell and spatial profiling technologies in mouse and human tissues to understand how specific immune environments within distant sites react to disseminated tumor cells and disproportionally impact the emergence of breast cancer metastases.

Minimum qualifications: PhD in Immunology or Cancer Biology, and a strong interest in tumor immunology.
Essential skills:
Extensive experimental laboratory experience, including experience with cell culture, molecular biology, and biochemistry;
A good understanding of immunology and experience with multicolour immune phenotyping by flow-cytometry;
Proven track record in conducting research, including designing, executing, and interpreting experiments, as demonstrated by previous publications (with at least one first author publication from graduate school);
Ability to prioritize and see the big picture, but also to focus on details;
A collaborative mindset with peers, students, and external collaborators;
Strong spoken and written competency in English.
Desirable skills:
Experience working with mouse tumor immunology models is strongly desired;
Computational skills are a plus.

Initial duration: 12 months, renewable for additional periods.
Eligibility criteria: National, Foreign or Stateless candidate(s) who hold a PhD degree in Immunology or Cancer Biology or other related scientific areas and a scientific and professional curriculum that reveals a profile appropriate to the activity to be developed.
Selection process: Candidates will be screened to determine eligibility based on minimum qualifications listed in call. Candidates meeting minimum requirements will be scored according to the required application materials. Relative weighting: CV: 50%, motivation letter: 25%, and interview: 25%. If shortlisted, candidates' referees may be contacted and may count towards evaluation.

Proof of qualifications (certificates) may be required at a later date for the formalisation of the contract agreement. Degrees obtained abroad may need to be formally recognised in Portugal.
