Offer Description UNINOVA – Instituto de Desenvolvimento de Novas Tecnologias opens an international call to hire 1 (one) Doctorate Researcher, over an uncertain term contract and full time under the project "Green SELf-Powered NEuromorphic Processing EnGines with Integrated VisuAl and FuNCtional Sensing" (ELEGANCE, Grant Agreement 101161114), for the development of R&D activities to be carried out by post-doctoral researchers, financed by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (HORIZON-EIC-2023-PATHFINDERCHALLENGES-01), and under local scientific-technical coordination of Doctor Emanuel Carlos.
Admission Requirements/Profile of the Candidate: Applicants may be any Portuguese national, foreign, or stateless, holders of a PhD degree in Physics Engineering, Materials Science, Electronics, Micro and Nanotechnologies, or similar areas, duly registered and/or recognized in Portugal and that holds the following requirements:
Solid knowledge in ink formulation, material deposition (coating and printing techniques) and device fabrication;
Experience in materials fabrication and processing, thin film deposition by printing techniques (screen and inkjet printing);
Experience in electrical characterization of electronic devices (thin film transistors, memristors and sensors);
Experience in materials characterization (e.g., UV-Vis-NIR, FTIR, XRD, SEM, AFM, Profilometer);
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team in an international environment and to work autonomously;
Fluent in English, written and spoken (Mandatory);
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Candidates who have obtained the degree abroad must have the degree recognized in Portugal, pursuant to Decree-Law No. 66/2018 of August 16.
Responsibilities: The candidate will develop research work, performing the following tasks with the following objectives:
Identify suitable inks to be synthesized and characterized in compatible green solvents for the printed targeted applications (memristors and thin film transistors) using low temperature approaches;
Develop metal oxides (ZnO, ZTO, MoOx and AlOx) and 2D materials (MoS2, Graphene, Mxenes) inks through sol-gel and liquid phase exfoliation approaches, respectively, compatible with the printing techniques mentioned below;
Evaluate the performance of selected substrates and inks to systematically investigate how the interface between inks and substrate influences device performance;
Use printing based manufacturing methods (Voltera, XTPL, inkjet and screen printing) for different types of devices and their combinations to reach memristor crossbar and circuit design;
Development & characterization of flexible memristive crossbar array;
Support assembly of prototypes with project partners;
Participate in technical meetings and develop reports with project partners;
Write at least one scientific article related to the work carried out in the areas mentioned above, to be published in international scientific magazines and/or conferences of recognized quality;
Supervise master and bachelor students if required.
Start Date and Workplace: The contract will tentatively start in November 2024, and will last expectedly for 1 (one) year, renewable within the project and for the period of execution necessary for the work plan described above. The work will be carried out at CEMOP-UNINOVA's facilities, in other facilities located in FCT/NOVA Campus and/or in other facilities that may be necessary for its execution, under the scientific guidance of Dr. Emanuel Carlos. UNINOVA will be the contracting entity.

Additional Information Monthly Remuneration: Reference remuneration is that corresponding to salary level 41 of the Single Remuneration Table, approved by Ordinance No. 1553-C/2008, of December 31st, and its successive updates.
Selection methods: The selection methods to use will be as follows:
Curriculum Vitae [90%] – it will be analysed the scientific track record, including publications, patents, presentations, awards, participation in scientific projects and any other elements that the candidate considers to be relevant within her/his track record, having in mind the requirements and workplan defined for this call;
Motivation letter [10%] – it will be analysed the interest of the candidate for the activities to be developed in this project and the quality of English writing.
If the jury deems it necessary, an interview will take place with selected candidates. In such a case, the marks for each selection criteria will be as follows:

Results: Both admitted and excluded candidates list and final classification list will be published on the UNINOVA website (www.uninova.pt) and all candidates will be notified by email.
Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline: After communicating the provisional list of the results of the evaluation, the candidates have a period of 10 working days to express their opinion during a prior hearing of interested parties, pursuant to articles 121 et seq. of the Code of Administrative Procedure.
The final decision will be rendered after the analysis of the statements presented during a prior hearing of interested parties. A complaint may be filed against the final decision within 15 working days, or, alternatively, an appeal may be filed within 30 working days, both counting from the respective notification.
