The Mota Lab aims to generate landmark discoveries in malariaby chasing innovative questions and by challenging current knowledge borders.We are now lookingfor an enthusiastic and talentedBioinformatician to join our team and to delve into the exciting and ground-breaking project "Plasmodium liver stage schizogony: high replication and genetic diversity", funded by European Commission. Qualifications and skills Master's or PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer sciences, or a related field; Experience in relevant software tools and programming languages (e.G., R, Python, Perl) in order to analyze large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, or proteomic datasets; Strong statistical skills, with expertise in applying bioinformatics methods and algorithms; Familiarity with databases, data integration techniques, workflow managers (e.G. Snake), and machine learning approaches; Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment; Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail; Good communication skills to interact with researchers and present complex findings in a clear and understandable manner; Experience in projectdesign and grant writing would be an advantage. Expected role Analyze and interpret large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, or proteomic datasets to derive meaningful insights; Develop and implementcomputational pipelines and analytical workflows for data processing, analysis, and visualization; Collaborate with researchers to design hypothesis and optimize experiments accordingly, including study design, sample size estimation, collection strategies and type of analysis to be applied; Apply statistical andcomputational techniques to identify patterns, correlations, and potential biomarkers from complex biological datasets; Integrate multiple data types and perform data integration and mining to uncover novel relationships, biological mechanisms and design new hypothesis; Secure funding by independently design and assist to grant writing and lead of bioinformatics projects; Contribute to the development of new methodologies and computational tools to address research challenges. Working conditions Employment contract; Annual salary will bedetermined according to the candidate's experience, in accordance with the project budget and iMM Career By-Law. The indicated amount will be subject to the mandatory taxes accordingly to Portuguese Labor Law
