As a Backend Developer you will be responsible for taking ownership of solutions and show initiative to improve the experience across the full breadth of the company and its product. The candidate should demonstrate a passion for simplicity, new concepts and technologies. A typical day might involve investigating and fixing a high priority issue, working with the team to improve an existing feature, brainstorming solutions, building an interface for a new part of the company platform or jumping in on a client meeting to explore new requirements. You will also be responsible for backend components such as AWS lambda functions, Java (Spring framework) applications and AWS infrastructure components, sharing and brainstorming solutions with the development team and wider business and helping to shape the product roadmap. For this position you should have 2-3 years commercial experience of Java, SQL or NoSQL databases, testing frameworks, Typescript (not mandatory), Node.js (not mandatory). The ideal candidate will have some or all of the following skills and experience: A passion for learning and keeping abreast of current tech and trends; Stellar communication and facilitation skills. You should be able to explain complex concepts to a toddler, a techie, or a technophobe; The ability to gain a deep understanding of requirements by asking the right questions; Ability to spot potential issues with code and suggest improvements for maintainability and performance; One or more Cloud platforms e.g. AWS, GCP; One or more version control techniques e.g. github, bitbucket; CI/CD pipelines.
