Azure Cloud EngineerRole PurposeThe Azure Cloud Engineer (Cloud DevOps Engineer) is responsible for designing, managing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure on the Microsoft Azure platform.
This role involves creating and implementing scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions.
The engineer will collaborate closely with development teams to facilitate continuous integration (CI), migration, and continuous deployment (CD) processes, ensuring seamless and efficient cloud operations.
Key Responsibilities Cloud Infrastructure Management Design, plan, and implement secure migrations from on-premises to Azure.
Monitor and optimise cloud resource usage for cost-efficiency.
Configure and run Azure services (., Virtual Machines, App Service, SQL Database, Storage).
Use automation tools to streamline development.
Cloud OperationsCoordinate day-to-day cloud operations to ensure high availability and performance.
Monitor resources, respond to incidents, and conduct root cause analysis.
Review existing operations and generate ideas for continuous improvement.
Cloud ArchitectureLead all aspects of internal and external cloud architectural components (Compute, Networking, and Security) to ensure they align with the overall cloud architecture.
Collaborate with internal and external collaborators to ensure quality and accuracy.
Ensure solutions meet objectives and service level agreements (SLAs), providing seamless and robust cloud services that support business needs.
Information Security Implement required security measures such as hardening, firewalls or message encryption, and supervising performance.
Monitor and address security vulnerabilities and threats.
Implement security by design.
FinOps Conduct cost analyses to identify variances and inefficiencies.
Develop and implement cost optimisation strategies.
Monitor cloud spending and recommend cost-saving measures.
Skills Professional ExperienceProven experience as an Azure Engineer or DevOps Engineer.
Demonstrable experience leading and deploying cloud solutions.
Technical Expertise Solid understanding of the following technologies: Azure Virtual Machines; Azure App Services; DevOps Tools; Terraform (for Infrastructure as Code); Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS); Azure networking including Firewall, NSG, Loadbalancers, VPN gateways; Azure monitor; Log analytics; Azure automation; Azure policies; Azure databases (SQL, Cosmos); Azure Storage; Cost management and billing; FinOps and Entra ID.
Cloud Migrations and Centralisations Proficiency in cloud-based services, architecture, and standard methodologies for scalability and performance.
Proven experience in migrating solutions to Azure.
Ability to plan and implement services centralisation projects.
Certifications and Additional Skills ITIL Certification (useful) Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals - AZ-900 Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate - AZ-104 Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert - AZ-305 Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) GKN Automotive is the global leader in drive systems.
