Offer Description Who are we?
Télécom Paris, a school of the IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom) and a founding member of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, is one of the top 5 French general engineering schools.
The guiding mission of Télécom Paris is to train, imagine and undertake to design digital models, technologies and solutions for a society and economy that respect people and their environment.
We are looking for an Assistant Professor in generative models for artificial intelligence . You will join the Image, Data, Signal Department (IDS). The research activity of the IDS department is conducted at the Laboratory Treatment and Communication of Information (LTCI). The mission of the department is teaching and research in the field of signal, image and data processing. You will also participate in the activities of Hi!Paris , an interdisciplinary center on AI & Data created by the Institut Polytechnique de Paris.
Scientific context:
The rise of artificial intelligence and particularly of deep learning techniques has profoundly impacted research for all data modalities: audio, images, videos, text, 3D, etc. In particular, the field of generative networks has recently greatly advanced the state of the art in numerous application fields, ranging from natural language processing to image and video generation. This area has become central in the activities of the three possible hosting teams proposed for this position: S2A (Signal, Statistics and Learning), IMAGES (Image, Modeling, Analysis, GEometry, Synthesis), and MM (Multimedia). These activities are developed for various modalities (audio, image, video, text, 3D) and are core to numerous projects and collaborations (advanced European project ERC, ANR, Cifres theses, CIEDS, etc.).
The development of generative models poses numerous scientific challenges, including self- or weakly supervised training, the development of frugal models, transfer learning, and obtaining guarantees and control over these models. Multi-modal data integration and structured data management are also active directions for the development of generative models.
Your main responsibilities will be:
Participate in the design and implementation of courses in their scientific field
Conduct research
Participate in the development of partnerships, collaborations, and contractual agreements in their scientific field
Foster the recognition of Télécom Paris and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris
To succeed in this role, you should have in-depth theoretical or applied knowledge in generative artificial intelligence, deep learning, and data (audio, image, video, etc.). Fluency in written and spoken English is required, and you must hold a PhD.
Other expertise of interest:
Expertise in generative AI in one or more of the application areas of the hosting teams (music, speech, audio, computer vision, bio-medical imaging, remote sensing, etc.)
Expertise in processing multimodal and structured data (graphs)
Self-supervised, sequential learning, transfer learning, domain adaptation
Ethics and bias in generative AI systems
Expertise in managing open-source projects
Why join us?
