Working in the Systems Team

The successful candidate will be joining Open Cosmos' systems team and will be responsible for technically managing the development and implementation of satellite missions to fulfill the company needs as well as providing AOCS expertise across company missions, while feeding onto the product roadmap to continuously improve our services with a very customer-centric attitude.

What will you be doing?

The following reflects Open Cosmos definition of essential deliverables and activities for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Open Cosmos may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons:

Lead the delivery of space missions being the mission technical responsible.

Coordinate different technical teams to deliver a consistent technical solution.

Be a reference person for AOCS-related tasks, taking responsibility for the timely delivery of AOCS solutions.

Produce and manage requirements and verification plans, perform system level analysis, calculations and trade-offs.

Create and implement MBSE methodologies, tools and processes.

Deliver FMECA and FDIR analysis.

Support in the AIT/AIV phases of the missions.

Develop AOCS solution algorithms, and perform validation testing both on-ground and in-orbit.

What you need to be successful

We're more interested in what you can do than being dogmatic about your background! We'd love to take a look at your CV even if you're not sure you tick all the boxes.

You will need strong knowledge of all aspects of a space mission to enable independent decision making and continuous improvement programmes.

You'll be performing system design tasks, so be ready to manage requirements and utilise MBSE tools, implement FMECA and design FDIR, manage system budgets, perform trade-off studies.

You will need a strong background in topics related to AOCS, such as orbital mechanics, pointing and stability budgets, orbital simulation tools.

Proficiency with Matlab/simulink, ideally in AOCS related implementations.

Expertise in managing pointing and stability budgets, along with supporting their validation through lab testing.

To coordinate with other technical teams involved in the design process you should have a good knowledge of all the main satellite subsystems, in addition to AOCS: power system, on-board data handling, comms, propulsion, mechanical, thermal.

You'll be communicating a lot, so be confident in speaking, listening and writing, sometimes within large groups including customers.

Our company operates in a dynamic environment, so be ready to adapt to change and learn quickly.

What we offer:

Prefer to mostly WFH, that's fine! Need to take 30 mins at 3pm to get the kids from school? Go ahead! We're more interested in your contributions than when and where you're working.

25 Days holiday in addition to national holidays.

Enhanced parental leave.
