We are seeking a talented individual to join our Individual Calculations team at Mercer. This role will be based in Lisbon. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Our team focuses on upcoming pensions for members of Defined Benefit Plans approaching retirement. We provide the most recent figures to help them plan their futures with confidence.
Our responsibilities include receiving requests, validating existing data, querying outstanding items, performing calculations, and preparing memos / letters for members. A critical success factor for our team is maintaining constant communication with a diverse range of colleagues, from junior analysts to senior consultants at Mercer UK. While strong communication skills are essential, the role also requires critical thinking and meticulous attention to detail.
We will count on you to :
Perform actuarial calculations, primarily focusing on Transfer Values of Defined Benefit Pension Plans.
Lead and manage a team of Actuarial Analysts, providing mentorship, coaching, and support to team members.
Engage in data and risk analysis, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
Produce reports and collaborate with client and project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Set performance goals, conduct performance reviews, and manage employee performance effectively.
Foster a positive team culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Ensure timely delivery of projects to the high standards required, with support from senior colleagues.
Manage relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure alignment and collaboration.
What you need to have :
A degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Sciences, Management, Economics, or a related field.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and motivate team members.
Ability to work effectively across different cultures and build strong relationships with colleagues.
Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and propose solutions.
Aptitude for meticulous work and attention to detail.
Intermediate to advanced (B2 or C level) proficiency in English.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
