As part of the Accounting Department, you will integrate the Financial and External Reporting Team in charge of the production and justification of financial statements at Sword Health.
This department counts about 20 people with a target to be between Portugal and the US. You will join a team of 12 people in Porto.
As an Accounting Manager, you will be in charge of the certification of financial statements, i.e. produce, analyze, make any corrections, and validate the accounting results and exposures, as part of the monthly and quarterly closings, of the activities.
What you will be doing:
Accounting:
Overview booking and controlling of all financial transactions;
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations;
Ensure timely monthly closing and reporting of the financial statements;
Assist implementations efforts for new accounting standards and policies (ASC 842, CECL and ASC 606 experience a plus);
Perform technical assessment of new financial reporting developments;
Play an integral role in the development, implementation and maintenance of the financial accounting systems (NetSuite, Brex, Zip experience a plus);
Work cross functionally to continuously accelerate the close process;
Build financial reports in NetSuite for internal and external reporting.
Closing Controls:
Ensuring accurate and timely closing of the books for monthly and annual reporting;
Preparing flux analysis at trial balance and financial statement levels;
Identification and substantiation of discrepancies in detail;
Justification of the alert controls: non-standard balance, consistency of monthly balances;
Maintain the accounting close checklist.
Analysis & Reporting Task:
Help prepare CFO close package and analysis;
- Delivering process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting process - both via automation and control.
Consolidation:
Preparing consolidated GL accounts for EU subsidiaries in ERP Oracle NetSuite;
Prepare timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and disclosures;
Support and preparation of decks for external stakeholders;
Prepare a statement of stockholders equity and statement of cash flows.
Audit:
Be one main point of contact for external auditors and to ensure the audit for the entities is progressing with the GL, AR, AP and Indirect teams.
What you need to have:
University degree in finance or economics;
3+ years experience in Finance and Controlling functions;
Team management experience;
Preferably Big 4 trained in Audit Department;
A structural and logical approach to solving problems;
Strong analytical skills and a hands on attitude;
Experience within a fast growing organization;
Great motivation and focus on delivery;
Experience with NetSuite, ideally with implementing and using.
What we would love to see:
Startup experience is preferred, ideally with international aspects.
