Offer Description Applications are invited for a MSc Holder Fellowship as Project Manager in the scope of the citizen science program "Ciência + Cidadã" and the Citizen Science Project "Oeiras Experimenta: climate-smart crops for sustainable food production", implemented through a close partnership between ITQB NOVA and the Municipality of Oeiras.
Scientific Area: Citizen Science and Science Communication; Agricultural Sciences and related areas.
Academic Degree: Master and Bachelor in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Agronomy, Medical Sciences or related areas.
Other Requisites: Experience in project management;
Experience in organizing events;
Participation or volunteering in scientific events;
Motivation for contributing in scientific research and field work;
Fluency in English with experience in writing and oral presentations;
Good organizational skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
Organizational ability to handle multitasking;
Being enrolled in a non-academic degree course, in accordance with the Article 6th of "Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação da Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. from FCT", law in force.

Work Plan: The Ciência + Cidadã Program is an innovative citizenship program coordinated by ITQB NOVA in close partnership with the Oeiras Municipality and in collaboration with other research institutes, non-profit organizations, and companies. It aims to contribute to scientific research, innovation, and evidence-based policies through the implementation of citizen science projects, co-creation, and public consultation in decision-making for science. The Oeiras Experimenta is a citizen science project involving local citizen scientists in a multi-disciplinary and cross-scales partnership with scientists.
The scientific aim of Oeiras Experimenta is to identify novel alternative and underused climate-resilient crops offering sustainable, healthy, and nutritious food products compared to traditional crops, contributing to Green Deal and UN Sustainable Development Goal commitments. The six-month project aims to complement the training of graduates in citizen science and project management areas. Specifically, the candidate will work on tasks such as:
Administrative management of the project;
Support the organization of the different planned activities (establishment of partnerships with different institutions, recruitment of citizen scientists, organization of a citizens' assembly, participatory visits);
Dissemination of activities and results;
Write and present periodic project progress reports;
Participate in national and international trainings;
Ensure compliance with the project schedule;
Help researchers in field work (routine field management practices, physiological and agronomic measurements);
Carry out the impact assessment of the project;
Management of social networks and newsletters of the Ciência + Cidadã Program and/or the Oeiras Experimenta project.
During this period, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate and learn with researchers, citizen science, science communication, and project management experts from ITQB NOVA and Oeiras Municipality, participate in national and international science and citizen science and science communication trainings and conferences, make oral presentations, and write articles, acquiring practical experience while being challenged to suggest well-founded strategies to achieve the proposed objectives.

Duration of the Fellowship: The fellowship will have the duration of 6 months (possibility of being renewed for another 6 months), expected to start in February 2025, on a full-time basis, according to Fellowship Regulations of Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P.
Selection Procedure: The evaluation procedures will be based on the analysis of the candidates' CV and, if needed, an interview for the selected candidates may take place. In this case, the curriculum evaluation and the interview will have a weight of 80% and 20% each.
