Offer Description The PhD candidate will join the Computer Science research lab LIS (Laboratoire d'Informatique et Systèmes) UMR CNRS 7020 in Marseille, France. The 3-year PhD is fully funded by the France 2030 PEPR Cloud program, project "Trustinclouds" (ANR-23-PECL-0009). The selected candidate will work to develop a scalable authorization framework for Cloud applications that takes into account the specific dynamicity and security needs of these applications.
This includes the modeling and specification of security rules, as well as the design of an access control solution and its implementation. Abusive access detection will also be studied using emergent machine learning techniques, in order to make the principle of least privilege effective.
The position does not include any teaching obligation, but teaching on a voluntary basis can be arranged. French knowledge is not mandatory, but it can be an advantage.
What We Offer:
Full 3-year French Doctoral salary. The PhD is funded in the context of a national collaborative PEPR Cloud program concerning all aspects of Cloud architectures and Cloud computing, including security. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to interact with experts in distributed computing, cryptography, formal methods, and machine learning. Moreover, during the thesis, the doctoral student will participate in working groups, summer schools, and other activities supported by the program.
Qualifications:
The successful applicant holds or is about to finish a Master's degree in Computer science or mathematics. He/she has to be motivated by academic research and have a background in theoretical computer science and cybersecurity. We require proficiency in English, both oral and writing skills.
