Position: Payroll Specialist
Location: Vila do Conde, Portugal
Position Overview:
As a Payroll Specialist, you will step into a key role where your expertise will shape the financial well-being and employee experience of our global operations. Reporting to the EIMEA Payroll Supervisor, your primary focus will be to support end-to-end payroll administration for countries in the EIMEA region. You will play a vital part in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing, tax compliance, and accounting.
Primary Responsibilities:
Execute daily payroll operations for assigned countries, adhering to labour laws, tax codes, and social contribution regulations.
Manage the entire monthly payroll cycle, including processing for new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and overtime.
Handle general ledger tasks related to payroll, such as journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliation, and data analysis.
Uphold compliance with local, company, and statutory regulations.
Serve as the point of contact for external Payroll, T&A, and Flex Benefits providers.
Foster positive relationships with employees at all levels, addressing inquiries promptly.
Contribute to the Global Payroll Transformation project's success during its EIMEA implementation phase.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
Proven accounting knowledge, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and closing activities.
Strong knowledge and experience with complex ERP systems [SAP preferred] in matrixed organisations.
Good command of Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.
Drive continuous improvement mindset by challenging existing processes, providing innovative solutions, and leveraging KPIs and best practices to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Values transactional work and routine deliverables.
International mindset and strong customer focus.
Preferred Requirements:
Minimum 2-3 years' experience and knowledge of international payroll (multi-countries experience is a plus).
Excellent command of the English language (other languages a plus, e.g., German or French).
Strong analytical and IT skills—knowledge of Workday is a plus.
Must demonstrate strong security and confidentiality practices.
