Offer DescriptionWork Plan: The work plan will be multidisciplinary and aims to achieve the following objectives:
Assist in the design and construction of devices (including games) for patients with different disabilities in various clinical contexts;Conduct experimental testing of the developed prototypes on individuals without associated pathologies in a laboratory setting and make the necessary adjustments;Perform testing of the developed prototypes on individuals with different disabilities in various clinical contexts and apply usability tests;Prepare a scientific article based on the results obtained during the tests;Collaborate with the HEI-Lab team in analyzing the data collected across different contexts.Workplace: The work will be carried out at the Laboratory of Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering, and Radiation Physics of the Faculty of Science and Technology, NOVA University Lisbon, under the scientific supervision of Professor Dr. Cláudia Regina Pereira Quaresma and Professor Dr. Maria Micaela Fonseca. The contracting entity will be NOVA.id.FCT – Association for Innovation and Development of FCT.
The scholarship will have a duration of 6 months, with a planned start date of February 15, 2024. The scholarship contract may potentially be renewed within the duration of the project.

Skills/Qualifications: To apply for a Master's Research Scholarship you must: Hold a bachelor's and master's degree in Biomedical Engineering or in Engineering or scientific areas, with training totaling a number of credit units (degree and master's degree) equal to or greater than 250 ECTS. The candidate must have an undergraduate degree equal to or greater than 14, and a master's degree equal to or greater than 15, under penalty of exclusion in the admission process.Reside in Portugal permanently and habitually, a requirement applicable to both national and foreign citizens.Mandatory requirements: Candidates must have experience in the development of devices applied in clinical settings and/or testing these devices in laboratory and clinical contexts. They must also have knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
Preferred factors: Knowledge of the English language and demonstrated ability in communication, teamwork, and the publication of scientific articles.
Additional Information: Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The scholarship amount is €1.259,64, in accordance with the table of values for scholarships directly awarded by FCT, I.P., in Portugal. Payment will be made monthly via bank transfer.
Selection criteria: The selection methods to be used and the respective weighting will be as follows:
Curricular assessment (grade from 1 to 20) weighting 50%;Experience in the research area (score from 1 to 20) weighting 50%.All applications will be evaluated on a scale from 0 to 20 points. Candidates who do not achieve a minimum score of 15 points will not be hired.
